How to Read Your Result
The output is an estimated state of health range and a risk tier. It is derived from published fleet-average degradation patterns applied to the age, mileage, climate, and fast-charging inputs you provided.
Read the range, not the midpoint. Battery degradation varies widely between individual vehicles with identical specifications and usage, and any estimate built from fleet averages carries that variance. A result of 85 to 91 percent means the tool cannot distinguish between those outcomes for your inputs — not that the true figure is 88 percent.
The risk tier matters more than the percentage. A vehicle in a low risk tier is unlikely to need battery replacement within a normal ownership period. A vehicle in a high risk tier warrants an actual diagnostic before purchase, not a more precise estimate.

Common Mistakes
Treating the estimate as a diagnosis. It is not, and no tool working from age and mileage can be. Only a dealer or EV-certified technician reading the vehicle's own battery management system can tell you the actual state of health of a specific car. If you are buying a used EV, that diagnostic is worth more than any estimate.
Underreporting fast charging. Frequent DC fast charging accelerates degradation, particularly in hot climates and at high states of charge. If you are evaluating a used vehicle, you usually cannot know its charging history, which is a genuine limitation of any pre-purchase estimate.
Ignoring climate. Sustained heat is one of the strongest drivers of battery degradation. An identical vehicle with identical mileage will typically show measurably different degradation depending on whether it spent its life in a hot or temperate climate.
Overlooking remaining warranty. Federal law requires EV battery warranties of at least eight years or 100,000 miles, and several manufacturers exceed that.
